Goldwork on Fan - cont.

The Goldwork is finished on the fan and I do have some notes that I want to share with everyone but they will have to wait for a later post.

This afternoon I share with you some pictures of the Goldwok on the fan.  I did choose to continue the no 4 gold on the spokes and outline.  Enjoy!

  1. It looks lovely. Did you work out in advance the width of the main spoke so that the gold would fill it precisely?

  2. Actually, I just got lucky with the gold fitting within the width of the handle. My thought was that I can always reduce down to one thread if appropriate. This is one of the reasons it is a good idea to have your fabric tight - if there is a little bit extra room in the goldwork, the fabric will "shrink" a little bit when it comes off the frame. 'Course, you have to be careful not to get your thread too tight. GREAT question.

  3. Christa,
I just followed your link from Mary Corbet's site. What a lovely piece! TJE is one of few stitching techniques I haven't tried -- yet! Thanks for the inspiration.
